The date on the first charter is 10 April 1933 to Troop 161. The Charter Institution was the American Legion Post 51, meetings were held on Wednesday at 7:00 in the Town Hall.

Herculano Silveira went on to become commander of Post 51 in 1949.
The post held the charter until 1935. The charter then went to the Community Church for the years of 1939 and 1940. From 1941 to 1946 there were no charters. In 1947 St. Joseph's Church picked up the charter as Troop 136 and held it until 1948. The Troop was again dropped until 1950 with the Men's Club of Epping as sponsor for 1 year. The American Legion returned as sponsor in 1960 and held the charter until 1987. The highest number of troop members was 49 boys in 1963/64. Since 1988 the Community Church, for the second time, has been the Troop Sponsor.
